Secret to Success
As you are blending the sounds together, listen for a word you might have heard before. Students need to know letter sounds.
What you can say or model
There are many ways to model this, but the main point is to sound each sound and then put them together and say it fast. One way to do this is to use buttons or some small objects of your choice. Students take one button for each letter in a word, laying them in a row and pushing each button forward as they say each sound. After saying each sound, they use both hands to push the buttons together, saying the word quickly. Students can also use their fingers; putting up a finger for each sound and then pulling back the fist while saying the word.
